Dubai:

Billions of dollars of foreign investments and job creation is at the centre of new projects such as Mall of the World, Design District Projects and others, Khalid Al Malek, chief business development officer at Dubai Holding, told delegates at the Dubai International Project Management Forum on Monday.

Dubai Holding is responsible for 11 business parks, including Dubai Media City and Dubai Internet City, and has created 75,000 jobs and instrumental in driving the economic diversification through its value add projects. Dubai Holding also gets involved in projects such as building tunnels, bridges, and sewerage systems among others.

“We have created more than 70,000-75,000 jobs, and attracted more than 11 nationalities in Dubai. We also have attracted many brands to come and work in Dubai,” Al Malek said.

“We have involved all of private parties and coordinated and cooperated all the authorities in the government and ensure that execution of the projects is successful,” he added.

Dubai Holding said last week it estimates 2015 net profit at Dh5.5 billion with a total assets of Dh130 billion.

EXPO 2020:

Dubai Holding is preparing itself for the Expo 2020 along with private partners, said Al Malek.

“In Expo 2020 the city is demanding all the private sectors to contribute. If we take the telecommunication industry, there’s a lot of rules and regulations governing the industry, but without cooperation of private sector you cannot achieve results,” said Al Malek.

“Continuous education of rules and regulations, market, the industry in the city and also all around globally is very important for people involved in projects,” he added.
