Dubai: Empower recently participated in the Rapid Assessment of Indian Cities for District Cooling programme, which is part of the ‘District Energy in Cities initiative’, launched by the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP).

The move comes of the heels of the Dubai-based district cooling services provider being selected by UNEP as a partner of this global initiative.

Empower visited India to assess Pune and Coimbatore and share its global experience with the decision makers in these cities. The delegation from Empower, attended the assessment along with partners from UNEP.

During the assessment, Empower put on display the most advanced technologies of District Cooling, highlighting its benefits, competencies, sustainable factors, and ideal operational plans.

“When UNEP officially selected us during the International District Energy Association (IDEA) Annual Conference and Trade Show in Boston in June, we put a comprehensive plan in place. Our team outlined the requirements for developing an advanced district cooling systems in selected Indian cities as Phase 1.” according to Ahmad Bin Shafar, Chief Executive Officer of Empower.

Empower currently operates more than 1 Million RT, providing environmentally responsible district cooling services to large-scale real estate developments, such as Jumeirah Group, Business Bay, Dubai World Trade Centre Residences and Dubai Design District, among others.
