Dubai: There’s no stopping shopaholics in Dubai this season as they hunt for the best bargains offered for the 16th edition of the Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS).

Jordanian expatriates Bahea and Samar Izmegna said shopping in Dubai is on top of their to-do list every summer. They said they’ve managed to learn a trick or two in terms of getting the best deals during DSS.

“We start searching the malls for what we want to buy during DSS. We usually wait near the end of DSS before we buy because the discounts get bigger and better. That saves us a lot of money,” Bahea said.

Nigerian tourists Deji Awobona, who is visiting Dubai with family, said the huge discounts during DSS remain as the biggest pull-factor for their visit.

“We always schedule our visit to coincide with the festival. We love the discounts plus we have fun at the malls during the summer festival because of the shows and various types of free entertainment,” Awobana said.

And because even high-end products go on sale during DSS, Lebanese national Rima Azar said shopping is the best bonding time for her and her friends during summer.

“I love shopping but DSS makes me love shopping even more. During the summer festival, the best high-end brands also go on sale, allowing me to buy the clothes, shoes and accessories I like at pretty affordable prices.”

Elsewhere in the city, visitors of Mercato Shopping Mall are in for yet another treat this July 1 as the mall blooms with pride for the stage show, The Miracle Garden.

Enchanting characters, portrayed as flowers and birds, tell a storyline about encouraging humans to care for and not pollute the environment. The tale of The Miracle Garden provides a magical setting for beautiful flowers and birds to live together in harmony. The story ends on a high note, with mythical forest fairies educating the audience on the importance of respecting nature and our environment.

The Miracle Garden, which previously wowed audiences at the mall on June 10 and 24, is part of the extensive line-up of entertainment in Dubai this season.
