Dubai: Abercrombie and Fitch’s Hollister brand is scheduled to open its first store in Dubai this year following a joint venture agreement with Majid Al Futtaim Fashion.

MAF Fashion, a subsidiary of MAF Ventures, is also working on another joint venture agreement to open the American clothing brand Abercrombie and Fitch’s flagship store in 2014 for the first time in the Middle East, the UAE-based company said in a statement yesterday.

“Both the Hollister and Abercrombie & Fitch brands will be strong strategic fits underpinned by the region’s large demographic of young, brand conscious consumers,” Asil Attar, CEO of Majid Al Futtaim Fashion said in a statement. “For Hollister and hopefully soon for Abercrombie & Fitch, Majid Al Futtaim Fashion will oversee the targeted rollout of the brands’ lifestyle concepts within the UAE, bringing the company’s brands to the Middle East for the first time. We are committed to ensuring that the brands remain true to form.”

MAF Fashion was not available to comment on further details.
