Abu Dhabi: Tourism Development & Investment Company (TDIC), the master developer of tourism, cultural, and residential destinations in Abu Dhabi, yesterday announced that it has been appointed operator of Hili Fun City family amusement park in Al Ain.

The park is to officially reopen under its new management on the first day of Eid-Al-Fitr.

Hili Fun City has been undergoing extensive renovation since August 2009 when TDIC was appointed to commence a two-phase redevelopment of the park into a major family attraction in the region. TDIC's movement from developer to operator of the park coincides with the completion of phase one, which saw the redevelopment of the western side of the park with the addition of new rides and landscaping.

Growing portfolio

Mubarak Al Muhairi, Managing Director at TDIC, said: "The development of tourism assets in the eastern region is a key focus of Abu Dhabi's 2030 vision and Hili Fun City is set to be one of the major tourism attractions to be re built in Al Ain in the next three years. The management of Hili Fun City is therefore important to TDIC's growing project portfolio."

Since TDIC began the redevelopment of the park and partially reopened it in November 2009, more than 189,000 people have visited the park, which is a 21 per cent increase on the number of visitors from the previous year.

This increase in visitor numbers during the course of phase one of Hili Fun City's redevelopment has generated a 153 per cent increase in revenue.
