Dubai: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, visited Cityscape 2014 on Monday.

Shaikh Mohammad was accompanied by Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince, and Shaikh Maktoum Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai.

Shaikh Mohammad reviewed tourism and investment projects in the real estate development sector being undertaken by a number of companies and national organisations.

Shaikh Mohammad started his tour by visiting the Meraas Holding pavilion, where Engineer Abdullah Ahmad Al Habbai, Meraas Holding’s Chairman, gave him an overview of the company’s projects. Shaikh Mohammad was briefed on La Mer, a promising project launched by Meraas during Cityscape.

Shaikh Mohammad next visited the Dubai Holding pavilion, where he reviewed the models of a number of tourism, residential and commercial projects. He was also briefed by the developer on the components and objectives of the Dubai Design District project.

Shaikh Mohammad also viewed models of the Dubai Downtown project, which is being undertaken by Emaar, and Dubai Creek Harbour, a project which includes hotels, residential towers, and tourism and leisure facilities.

At the Nakheel Properties pavilion, Shaikh Mohammad was briefed by Ali Lootah, Chairman of Nakheel, on a number of projects being carried out by the company, particularly the Palm Gateway project in Palm Jumeirah, which will be built at a cost Dh3 billion.

Shaikh Mohammad stopped at the Meydan pavilion, where he reviewed the progress on a number of massive new projects. Shaikh Mohammad was briefed by Mohammad Al Khayat, Meydan’s Deputy Head of Commercial and Free Zone Affairs, on the Dubai Water Canal project that includes a beach, walkway, 2,000 residential units, villas and towers besides leisure facilities. He was also briefed on the Meydan Avenue project.

On the final leg of his tour, Shaikh Mohammad inspected the Dubai World Central pavilion that showcased a model of Al Maktoum International Airport in Jebel Ali.

Shaikh Mohammad expressed his satisfaction with the quality of the tourism projects being implemented in the UAE and said that they reflect the UAE’s vision for projects that would place it among the top destinations on the world’s tourism map. He stressed that the wheels of development would continue to turn until various projects were completed and the ambitions of the citizens for a decent, secure and stable life were achieved.

Shaikh Mohammad was accompanied by Hilal Saeed Al Merri, CEO of Dubai World Trade Centre, Saeed Humaid Al Tayer, Chairman of Meydan, and other officials.
