Dubai: Meraas Holding, creator of theme parks and upscale retail centres, has lifted the veil on “La Mer”, a mixed-use development in the Jumeirah district. Construction is set to start in the fourth quarter of the year.

“The project will combine upscale living with distinctive retail and leisure attractions, an integrated outdoor living environment and engaging beach activities,” said Abdullah Al Habbai, Group Chairman. “La Mer will emerge as a world-class destination in the heart of Jumeirah.”

The development will spread across 9.5 million square feet of existing and reclaimed land. Featuring four zones — the beach, a leisure and entertainment hub, North Island, and South Island — it will create a mix of commercial, leisure, residential and hospitality components.

On North Island and South Island, La Mer will have residential neighbourhoods with a total of 688 apartments and villas as well as a 160-key hotel. It will also be a magnet for a range of F&B concepts. The project will also have two marinas for yachts and a park.

“Our feasibility studies have confirmed that La Mer will be one on the projects which will positively contribute to Dubai’s economy and set new global benchmarks for beach front developments,” Al Habbai said.
