Dubai: The Meydan One project — Dubai’s next big mixed-use development in the making — is on full display at Cityscape. A 3.67 million square metre leisure, residential and hospitality destination, the first phase is expected to open in 2020.

It will host 78,000 homes and the 711 metre tall Dubai One tower, apart from the Meydan One mall. The mall will feature a 4 kilometre canal and a 100-berth marina.

The Dubai Water Canal is a joint venture between the Road and Transport Authority, Meydan City Corporation and Meraas. It will run across 2.9 kilometres connecting Business Bay to the Gulf.

It is to include the Crystal Lagoons in Safa Park, apart from two residential towers of 35 floors each.

Meydan also confirmed that the Horizon project — a 180-hectare development located south of the Ras Al Khor Sanctuary — will accommodate 72,000 residents. The northern part of the Horizon will feature towers running parallel to the canal, with the southern portion to have mid-rise buildings created around a central park and a boulevard.
