Dubai: Hotels offering rooms with views looking on to the Burj Dubai are taking a high number of reservations for the night of the tower's opening as people migrate to the area in order to take part in the opening nights events.

The Address Hotel in Downtown has booked out all Fountain view rooms, which, while they don't have direct views over the Burj offer windows looking out on to the Dubai Fountain with the Burj as a backdrop.

The hotel has reported nearly a 90% occupancy rate for the night of the 4th. Rates are Dh1799 for the Premier Fountain room and Dh2299 for the Club Fountain view rooms non inclusive of tax.

The Palace Hotel carries a similar story with an occupancy rate standing at nearly 90% with mostly Lake View rooms left. Rates for these rooms currently stand at Dh1299 a night non inclusive of 20% tax.

Al Manzil Hotel is also experiencing an increased number of reservations with an occupancy rate of 88-90% on the 4th January. At the time of writing there was only one Burj View room left going at a rate of Dh875 and four Junior Suite rooms left going at Dh1325 a night, not inclusive of a 20% tax.

"We are taking reservations from a mixture of tourists and people living locally. Most are asking for the Burj room specifically," said the reservation desk.

The area's latest addition, the Dubai Mall Address Hotel is however taking less bookings than its neighbours currently standing at a 55% occupancy rate with Burj view rooms still available. The rates for these rooms which are configured to look directly on to the Burj currently stand at Dh1499 for a Deluxe Burj View room and Dh1699 for a Premier Burj View room not inclusive of 20% tax.

The opening of the Burj Dubai includes an event incorporating various elements and using fireworks that have never been seen before and a previously unseen show at the nearby Dubai Fountain.
