Barcelona:  The world's first Ferrari theme park will open its doors to the public in Abu Dhabi on October 28, the Italian carmaker and local developers Aldar Properties said on Thursday.

The park, which includes a high-speed rollercoaster ride that should reach speeds of up to 240 km/h, is located next to the Yas Marina circuit that hosts the season-ending Abu Dhabi Formula One Grand Prix on November 14.

Abu Dhabi's government-owned investment fund Mubadala Development Company has a 5 per cent stake in Ferrari, whose Formula One team have won more championships and races than any rivals.

The much-anticipated opening date was announced at a ceremony that was held on Thursday at the Spanish Grand Prix in Barcelona.

The ceremony was attended by representatives from Ferrari, Aldar Properties and Ferrari World Abu Dhabi.

Ferrari World Abu Dhabi will have over 20 rides and attractions which will bring to life the Ferrari brand in ways which appeal to a diverse international audience.

In addition to Formula Rossa, the high-speed roller coaster, visitors to Ferrari World will also enjoy an aerial voyage through Italy following a Ferrari; a G-force experience taking passengers on an adrenaline-pumping ride up over 62 metres, through the roof and back down again; and a flume ride journey through the heart of a Ferrari 599 engine.
