Dubai: Emaar Hospitality is in talks to expand the Armani Hotel brand overseas, a spokesperson told Gulf News on Sunday following comments by a senior executive earlier that suggested those plans had been shelved.

“We are in discussions for other properties in some key markets,” an Emaar spokesperson said by email without providing further details.

Earlier on Sunday, asked at a press conference about expanding the brand overseas, Philippe Zuber, chief operating officer of Emaar Hospitality Group, said “We do not have any other discussion yet for any further property.”

The Armani Hotel Dubai launched in April 2010 at the Burj Khalifa in a collaboration between Giorgio Armani and Emaar Properties. The second Armani Hotel opened in Milan in 2011.

In late 2010, then chief executive of Emaar Hotels and Resorts, Marc Dardenne, reportedly said the company was favouring opening a third Armani Hotel in Paris. The company was also looking at New York and Marrakesh, he said.

Asked about these plans, Zuber said, “We are happy with what we have.”
