Abu Dhabi: The ninth edition of Cityscape kicked off on Monday with property developers showcasing their latest projects to meet rising demand.

Cityscape was inaugurated by Shaikh Hazza Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, National Security Adviser and Deputy Chairman of Abu Dhabi Executive Council,

Taking place at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (Adnec) until April 23, the event is seeing participation from over 130 exhibitors including leading real estate developers such as Aldar Properties, Mubadala, and Tourism Development and Investment Company (TDIC), among others.

“According to [Jones Lang LaSelle] and Colliers, just 18,000 units are due to come online in 2015 and 2016 — an increase of 2.8 per cent per year, leaving a shortfall of more than 50,000 units. This further highlights the demand for housing and why now is a safe time for investment in the markets,” said Wouter Molman, director of Cityscape Group at Informa Exhibitions, the event’s organisers.
