Dubai’s DFM index closed 0.72 per cent higher at 1587.42 despite activity still low in the markets as most investors are still to return from Eid holidays.

Among the gainers, Deyaar rose 13.35 per cent to close at Dh0.399, followed by Salam Bahrain by 4.47 per cent to Dh0.397 and Salama by 2.09 per cent to Dh0.732.

Among the losers, Takaful-EM fell 2.19 per cent to Dh0.626, followed by Du by 1.41 per cent to Dh3.50 and Dubai Islamic Bank by 1.01 per cent to Dh1.96.

Of the 25 companies traded, 15 rose, nine declined and one remained unchanged.

About 126.75 million shares worth Dh117.37 million were traded yesterday.

DFM index has surged 17.29 per cent so far this year and rose 2.97 per cent for the month.

The Abu Dhabi Securities market (ADX) index rose 0.23 per cent to close at 2505.34 points.

Of the 29 companies traded, 11 rose, six declined and 12 closed unchanged.

About 32.46 million shares worth Dh41.49 million were traded yesterday.

Among the gainers, Watania rose 3.16 per cent to Dh0.99, followed by Union National Bank by 1.24 per cent to Dh3.30 and RAK Bank by 1.23 per cent to Dh4.10.

Among the losers, Green Crescent Insurance Company lost 3.23 per cent to Dh0.30, followed by Dana, by 2.50 per cent to Dh0.39 and Ras Al Khaimah Cement Company by 1. 41 per cent to Dh0.70.

ADX index has surged 8.04 per cent so far this year and rose 3.56 per cent for the month.

The markets are expected to remain range-bound sans major economic or political developments.
