The Indian Business and Professional Council Dubai said it elected new office-bearers at its governing council meeting held recently.

Suresh Kumar, CEO of Emirates Financial Services, was unanimously elected the president, the council said in a statement.

The meeting was convened under the chairmanship of its honourary patron, Yash Sinha, the consul-general of India (for Dubai and northern emirates).

While Prashant Gulati was elected the honorary secretary, Kamal Vachani was chosen as the honorary treasurer and Kiran Sangani, as the new vice-president of the council.

The other five members of the governing council Abbas Ali Mirza, Anil Bhardwaj, Dr Govind P Bajpai, Navin Kapoor and Sunder K. Ramchandani will head various special focus sub-committees that have been established to develop different areas.

IBPC Dubai said the elections were a transparent process, and held under the independent election officer, M Rafik and Salah Al Ameen, head of legal affairs, Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industries.

About 75 per cent of the eligible members have cast their votes in the elections, the IBPC Dubai statement said.
