Dow, S&P 500 turn up on bargain hunting
The Dow and S&P 500 rose in volatile trade on Thursday as bargain hunting in the energy sector offset worries over a deepening recession.
New York: The Dow and S&P 500 rose in volatile trade on Thursday as bargain hunting in the energy sector offset worries over a deepening recession.
The Dow Jones industrial average pushed up 74.23 points, or 0.87 per cent, at 8,593.44.
The Standard & Poor's 500 Index climbed 6.46 points, or 0.72 per cent, to 903.24.
The Nasdaq Composite Index was off 1.58 points, or 0.10 perc ent, to 1,614.17.
