Dubai: Dubai’s DFM index could not hold on to its rally and fell 0.50 per cent to close at 1547.82 points on selling pressure.

Among the gainers, Takaful-Em rose 5.41 per cent to close at Dh0.623, followed by Shuaa by 3.55 per cent to Dh0.642 and GGICO by 1.76 per cent to Dh0.346.

Among the losers, Mazaya fell 8.87 per cent to Dh1.13, followed by Dartakaful by 3.78 per cent to Dh0.586 and Aman by 2.77 per cent to Dh0911.

Of the 29 companies traded, eight rose, 16 declined and five remained unchanged.

About 55.58 million shares worth Dh65.01 million were traded yesterday.

The index touched a high of 1555.69 and a low of 1542.54 points during the intra trade.

Telecommunication and bank shares dragged the Abu Dhabi Securities Market (ADX) index down by 0.51 per cent to close at 2561.61 points.

Of the 24 companies traded, three rose, 14 declined and seven closed unchanged.

About 170.70 million shares worth Dh167.64 million were traded yesterday. Volume rose more than 500 per cent when compared to Wednesday’s 27.35 million shares.

Among the gainers, Agthia rose 0.02 per cent to Dh1, followed by Taqa by 0.01 per cent to Dh0.77 and Union National Bank by 0.01 per cent to Dh0.31.

Among the losers, Commercial Bank International lost 9.68 per cent to Dh0.84, followed by Insurance House by 9.52 per cent to Dh0.95 and Green Crescent Insurance Company by 3.33 per cent to Dh0.29.
