Dubai: The chances of the Indian Prime Minister Modi making a state visit to the UAE in the first-half of this year are quite high, according to a senior board member of the Indian Business and Professional Club.

“The IBPC has been in regular touch with the Indian foreign ministry and the embassy/consulate here to make it happen,” said Paras Shahdadpuri. “It’s inconceivable that no Indian Prime Minister has visited the UAE in 33 years.

“Apart from the trade volumes between the countries, some suggests reckon that Indian investors have built up such significant exposures in the UAE, with realty sector alone taking in $15 billion to $20 billion over the years.

“For expat Indians to be serious about scaling up Indian exposures, the government has to do more than single-window clearances. Fast-tracking of investment proposals have to be assigned the highest priority.”
