Dubai: Dubai-based developer Nakheel has started leasing at The Pointe, a retail, dining and entertainment complex on the Palm Jumeirah, according to a statement on Wednesday.

The Pointe has 130 spaces available for shops, restaurants and cafes, the company stated.

Covering an area of 136,000 square metres, the Dh800 million development is expected to be completed in 2016.

Nakheel recently signed a Dh375 million contract with Gulf Technical Construction Company to build the The Pointe, located at the tip of Palm Jumeirah.

Nakheel’s other upcoming developments include Nakheel Mall, The Palm Tower, The Boardwalk and Palm West Beach.

The 418,000 square metre Nakheel Mall will feature 200 stores, including Waitrose and two anchor department stores, 12 restaurants, six medical clinics and a nine-screen cinema. It is due to be completed in 2016.

Nakheel recently began leasing at its new community retail centre at Al Furjan, with 70 per cent of space booked.

The company’s retail portfolio includes Ibn Battuta Mall and Dragon Mart Mall, which are undergoing expansion, as well as neighbourhood retail centres at Jumeirah Park, Discovery Gardens and International City.
