Dubai: With the Civil Defence authorities enforcing more stringent fire-safety measures, the UAE's construction industry is increasingly opting for advanced fire-retardant materials, generating an increased demand for high quality safety materials, according to industry officials.

"Fire safety in the construction industry is a critical issue, especially with the Civil Defence authorities enforcing the use of fire-retardant materials in key areas, including entrance, staircase area and kitchen," Rizwan Sajan, Chairman of Danube Building Materials, said in a statement.

Danube Building Materials, a leading player in the construction industry, has launched a comprehensive range of fire-retardant materials sourced from five leading European manufacturers.

The company has recently unveiled the entire range of fire-retardant solutions. The range includes fire-retardant MDF, chipboard, plywood, boards, door cores, laminates, paints, adhesives and iron mongery, all designed to international standards and approved by Dubai Civil Defence.

It's new unit will cater to contractors and joineries which are required to adhere to stringent fire safety rules. New buildings are designed to provide as much physical protection as possible to occupants during a fire.

Fire-rated products help limit the spread of fire within the structure, and reduce the exposure of occupants to fire and its lethal by-products, such as smoke.
