Abu Dhabi: Drake & Scull Engineering (DSE), the engineering subsidiary of Drake & Scull International, has been awarded a Dh198 million contract for Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) services on an upcoming hotel and serviced apartment complex.

Construction work on the hotel complex has commenced, with completion targeted for 2017.

Drake & Scull Engineering will deliver its MEP services for five hospitality buildings ranging between 15 and 19 floors. The buildings include a hotel, services apartments, a dining outlet, and a marina, among other facilities.

Ahmad Al Naser, managing director of Drake & Scull Engineering, said the company is set to play a role in preparations for Expo 2020 through involvement in various new landmark projects.

He added that the UAE was one the company’s biggest markets, and that there are expectations for growth in the country. Drake and Scull is also set to contribute to the UAE’s rail sector through its Drake and Scull Rail subsidiary.

In 2014, the company picked up around Dh5.5 billion worth of projects across the Middle East and North Africa, and Asia. These included work on the Mall of the Emirates expansion, Habtoor City, Abu Dhabi’s Louvre Museum, Danat Al Emarat Hospital, the Plaza View Developemnt, and Maliha Hospital.
