Abu Dhabi: The total value of Emirati housing projects overseen by FGB reached Dh24.19 billion, with the bank having approved 23,581 loans, according to Ahmad Al Sayegh, vice chairman of FGB.

“FGB was mandated with the task of managing national housing loans in an agreement signed with the government of Abu Dhabi in January 2007. To date, we have met with 19,269 Emirati customers, and we have opened folders in the names to commence work on their homes,” he said.

Al Sayegh added that the bank has overseen a total of 14,583 projects to date — 10,583 of which have been completed, with the other 4,000 being under construction.

He was speaking at the launch of National Housing Loans exhibition organised by the bank, and held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (Adnec) until December 17. The exhibition offers Emiratis applying for housing loans or who have received loans a chance to meet with over 100 suppliers, contractors, and consultants.

The event is said to be the first of its kind in facilitating business between Emirati building homes, and suppliers, and is set to run on an annual basis.
