UAE Central Bank approves currency notes featuring Braille

Board of directors also reviews memorandum on State Audit Institution’s comments on financial year 2012

Abu Dhabi: The board of directors of the Central Bank of the UAE, at a recent meeting, reviewed a memorandum regarding re-printing of set quantities of currency notes of denominations Dh1,000, Dh500, Dh200, Dh20, Dh10 and Dh5 using Braille characters so that they will be readable by the visually impaired, and instructed that necessary actions be taken to execute the proposal.

The board also reviewed a memorandum regarding the State Audit Institution’s comments on the financial year 2012. The board discussed those observations and recommendations and deliberated on the manner in which they could be implemented by the Central Bank.
