Dubai: Citibank has launched its PremierMiles line of premium credit cards, Citi PremierMiles Elite and Citi PremierMiles Platinum, in the UAE market in collaboration with MasterCard.

The Elite lets cardholders earn up to three Citi Miles on every US dollar spent internationally and two Citi Miles on every US dollar spent locally. The Platinum card lets cardholders earn two miles for every US dollar spent internationally and 1.5 miles for every US dollar spent locally.

"This card can give you access to literally any airline in the world, so that's 300 plus airlines in the world," said Fara'az Ali, Cards Head Officer in the UAE and Bahrain at Citibank.

The Elite card is granted only to people with a monthly income of at least Dh30,000, and the Platinum card is granted to those with a monthly income of at least Dh15,000.

"This card is designed to reward those cardholders who still want to travel on a premium airline but still have choice and control over which airline they choose," Ali said.

Sanjoy Sen, Consumer Bank Head at Citibank for the Middle East region, said that the fact there's a huge expatriate population in the UAE makes the launch of the Premier Miles cards right for this market.

Cardholders also get a free return trip to any destination worldwide, 75 per cent off on companion tickets, in addition to access to VIP airport lounges.
