One terminal hub stands out, brings home 'best airport' crown for fifth consecutive year
Dubai: Consumer aviation website Skytrax has just released the 2017 edition of its annual World Airport Awards, and several airline hubs from Asia have garnered a lot of approval ratings from more than 13 million travellers.
Singapore’s Changi International Airport took home the crown as the best passenger terminal in the world for the fifth consecutive year.
The Southeast Asian transit hub emerged as the 2017 winner after flyers rated 550 airports based on a number of performance parameters, including terminal comfort, public transport options, waiting times at security screening, check-in facilities, TV and entertainment facilities, WiFi service, power charging stations, among many others.
Taking the second spot this year is Tokyo’s Haneda Airport, followed by South Korea’s Incheon International Airport, Germany’s Munich Airport and Hong Kong International Airport in the top five.
Rounding up the top ten are Qatar’s Hamad International Airport Doha, Central Japan International Airport, Zurich Airport, London Heathrow Airport and Frankfurt Airport.
In terms of cleanliness, Japan’s Tokyo Haneda stood out, snagging the award for world’s cleanest aviation hub.
For staff service, Taiwan’s Taoyuan International Airport earned the most votes from travellers, while Hong Kong’s aviation hub has been rated as the best for dining.
