Abu Dhabi: Abu Dhabi Airports Company (Adac) opened its second Abu Dhabi International Airport Expo Check-In facility at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company (Adnec) for both passenger and full baggage check-in services.

The new Expo Check-In will serve passengers of eight airlines: Etihad Airways, Gulf Air, Egypt Air, Air India, Air India Express, PIA (Pakistan International Airlines), Sudan Airways and Jet Airways.

Adac is working on attracting more airlines to this service throughout the year.

Huraiz Al Mur Bin Huraiz, chief commercial officer of Adac, said the step had been taken so that exhibitors at Adnec could check in conveniently at the centre.

He added that anyone flying on one of the eight airlines can use it.

"Adnec is already well recognised by both residents and visitors to the UAE capital; a number of leading hotels and tourist attractions are close by, and the venue itself receives thousands of overseas visitors each year. We are confident that the availability of this second check-in facility within Abu Dhabi city will be very well received and provide great ease-of-use for our passengers," Huraiz said.

Passengers travelling from Abu Dhabi International Airport can check in at the counters, located on the ground floor of the exhibition centre near Abu Dhabi Hall, between four and 24 hours prior to departure.

Initially three counters will be in operation 24/7, with each counter capable of handling approximately 25 passenger check-ins per hour.

A further two counters can be added at a later stage based on passenger flow according to Adac. Adac operates another stand-alone check-in facility at the Abu Dhabi International Airport City Terminal located in the Tourist Club area near Abu Dhabi Mall.

"The largest number of passengers that we have attracted at the check-in facility at the City Terminal was 120,000 in a year," said Huraiz, adding that the numbers at the new facility are expected to be close to the ones achieved at the City Terminal.

Passengers will be able to book their Golden Class services from this new facility and will be offered ‘left-luggage' service, which will be available to all visitors at Adnec, providing storage for hand and other luggage.

Humaid Al Daheri, chief sales and marketing officer of Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company (Adnec) said that the move by Adac is only make the Adnec a more attractive venue.

"The introduction of Adac's comprehensive check-in facilities at Adnec provides fantastic convenience and further augments our status as a location that's growing in significance with each passing year," he said.
