Dubai: Aversion to using your credit or debit card to pay for purchases online? Well Etihad Airways may have a solution for you.

The airline is now allowing passengers to pay for their flights from home, in cash.

Etihad Airways said on Wednesday passengers can book flights and ancillary services, such as extra baggage fees, using Pay@home, which comes at no extra charge to the flight.

The online payment option allows for cash to be collected by a courier from a nominated address to pay for the transaction within 24 hours of the booking being made.

Etihad says it’s the first airline in the Middle East to offer Pay@home, which comes from money transfer company Payfort.

Etihad Vice President Direct Sales Just Warby said Pay@home is a “very local approach.”

“We wanted to give options that catered for the needs of our guests. The addition of Pay@home will make a significant difference to online bookings,” he said.

The Pay@home service is only available only if the booking is made at least 48 hours before flight departure, Etihad said.
