Oman Air expands its fleet with addition of newest Boeing model
Muscat: Oman Air has added one more aircraft to its fleet, the new B737-800 NG, named Ras Al Hadd, increasing the airline's B737 NG fleet to 11.
In a statement yesterday, Peter Hill, Chief Executive Officer, said that this latest addition comes in line with Oman Air's plans to expand its fleet for short and medium haul flights, which will enhance Oman Air's presence on the map of the regional aviation industry.
"Apart from offering passengers enhanced comfort and reliability, it will also help our targets for operational efficiency," he said.
"Oman's growing prominence as a key player in regional economic and business forums and Oman Air's steady growth as the national carrier of the Sultanate of Oman have made fleet growth and expansion in terms of destinations and frequencies imperative."
Convenient connections
"We intend to link Muscat through direct flights to the major regional cities and also offer convenient connections to our international destinations.
"These apart, our passengers can also experience enhanced onboard comfort and even greater on-time reliability, as these airplanes feature the latest design technology. Our goal is to offer our customers best on-time performance," Hill said.
Oman Air's Corporate Communication and Media Department highlighted that the addition of the 737 aircraft will complement the existing fleet of Oman Air, especially its long-haul flights, and offer easy connectibility options for the passengers travelling on Oman Air.
Oman Air was the first commercial operator in the Gulf to acquire Boeing's new version of the 737 in 2001.
