Muscat: Travellers flying with Oman Air will soon become the first in the Middle East region to choose from four new and innovative check-in options at Muscat and other key airports.

Oman's national carrier will dramatically improve customer experience by providing four exciting new ways to check-in including using a mobile phone, the Internet, airport kiosks, and in the airport where customer service agents are equipped with mobile check-in technology, according to a press release here yesterday.

In conjunction with the launch of its Sabre Web Check-In solution, Oman Air will also introduce the ability for customers and travel agents to select their preferred seat and print the boarding pass for the same day return flight on www.omanair.aero.

The announcement demonstrates our commitment to the growth of the Oman Aviation industry, by using emerging technology to help us transform the traveller experience.

Our newly-launched range of check-in options is yet another step towards providing a seamless and hassle free air travel experience for our passengers, said Barry Brown - Oman Air's vice president commercial.

Today's travellers want faster and more convenient ways of checking-in so they can spend less time waiting in airport queues.

New technologies like web check-in and mobile check-in also enable travellers to bypass the check-in area altogether if they are not carrying any luggage, further reducing the time needed at the airport. These types of innovations appeal to a traveller and can help build airline loyalty very quickly, added Brown.

The first of Oman Air's new range of check-in options, Sabre Web Check-In, will be available from this month, making it the first airline in the Middle East to offer passengers multiple check-in options from Muscat and other key airports.

Following the launch of Web Check-in, Oman Air will introduce self-service options including Kiosk Check-in and Mobile Phone Check-In as well as an enhanced airport staff check-in solution called Roving Agent Check-In, which enables Oman staff to check-in passengers using mobile-enabled hand-held computers at the airport.

Using Mobile Check-In, Oman Air will be one of the first airlines in the world to offer mobile check-in to their customers.
