Dubai: An Emirates flight to Paris was cancelled on Thursday and an Etihad Airways service to the French capital was delayed by a day due to a nationwide strike by air traffic controllers in France.

France’s largest union, the SNCTA, called the two-day strike on Wednesday in a dispute over working conditions.

The industrial action resulted in Emirates cancelling flights EK075 Dubai to Paris and EK076 Paris to Dubai on Thursday, an airline spokesperson said by email.

“This decision was made following the French civil aviation authorities imposing a mandatory schedule reduction on all airlines operating into the country. All other Emirates services to and from France on Thursday 9 April will operate to schedule,” the spokesperson said.

The airline’s other daily flight, EK073 to Paris, was unaffected and departed on schedule on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Etihad rescheduled its EY37 Abu Dhabi to Paris Thursday service to depart a day later at 3am on Friday April 10, an airline spokesperson said. The EY37 Paris service usually departs Abu Dhabi at 9am each day. The airline’s other daily Paris-bound service, EY31, departed on schedule, according to Etihad’s website
