DUBAI: Dubai-based flydubai’s inaugural flight to Quetta landed today and was greeted by a traditional water cannon salute. The flight marks the start of a direct air link between Dubai and flydubai’s fourth destination in Pakistan.

Receiving the aircraft was the Governor of Balochistan, Mohammad Khan Achakzai, with senior airport and government officials.

Flydubai first began flights to Pakistan in 2010 to Karachi, flydubai’s 20th destination on its network which has now grown to over 90 points. In 2013, flights to Sialkot and Multan were launched and the air carrier now operates 27 flights a week to Pakistan. flydubai has announced 16 destinations this year.

Flydubai serves a wide network of destinations in the Subcontinent. This network covers eight points in India, three points in Bangladesh, two points in Afghanistan, as well as the capital cities of Nepal and Sri Lanka, with flights to Kathmandu and Colombo respectively.
