Dubai: Flydubai, Dubai's first low cost airline, Sunday said it will start flights to the Afghan capital Kabul on May 17. This will be followed two days later with flights to the Egyptian city of Luxor.

The airline will fly to Kabul five times a week and to Luxor three times. Tickets to Kabul are priced at Dh725 and to Luxor at Dh350.

Gaith Al Gaith, CEO of flydubai, said: "It is great to be able to announce another two routes today. This brings our network to 17 destinations and continues our commitment to make travel a little less complex, a little less stressful and a little less expensive and ensure more people travel to more destinations more often.

"Again these routes are a combination of the two different types of destinations we were set up to serve — those which have very few direct links to the UAE and those which are already popular routes but would benefit from having an additional low-cost option.

"Kabul and Luxor are both fascinating places. Luxor boasts some of the most incredible historical sights on the planet, such as the Valley of the Kings and the Temple of Karnak. Kabul is going through a very turbulent time, but providing air links on a quality airline flying the newest, safest aircraft in the industry will ensure the brave people working to secure and develop the country will have a safe, comfortable and affordable travel option."

Kabul flight FZ301 will leave Dubai at 2am, landing in Kabul at 5.20am local time. The return flight, FZ302, will depart from Kabul at 6.20am and arrive in Dubai at 8.45am local time.

FZ183 to Luxor will depart from Dubai International Airport's Terminal 2 at 10.55pm and land in Luxor at 1.35am local time the following day. The return flight, FZ184, will depart from Luxor at 2.20am and arrive in Dubai at 6.45am local time.

Bookings are open on flydubai's website (www.flydubai.com), through the call centre (04 301 0800) and from travel agents.

The flydubai model is simple, with customers paying only for the services they want to receive.
