Dubai: Lieutenant General Hamad Mohammad Thani Al Rumaithy, Chief of Staff of the UAE Armed Forces, has said that the UAE's achievements in the exhibition industry have crossed regional borders and achieved international reputation.

In a statement to Nation Shield Journal on the occasion of the Dubai International Air Show 2009, he said the show underscored the confidence and trust in the UAE as a host country .

"The Dubai Air Show presents several benefits for the Armed Forces cadre since some of them play an active part in this show through adequate preparation, organisation and implementation. Those specialised, in particular, make heavy use of their extensive administrative organising and commanding expertise and that reflects their discipline and their teamwork," Lt General Al Rumaithy said.

Wise leadership

"As we witness the 11th edition of the Dubai Air Show, which coincides with the fifth anniversary of the demise of the late Shaikh Zayed... it comes to our memory, while viewing the present in which we live, what the late Shaikh Zayed achieved in overcoming the past's cruel circumstances and how with the support of his brothers built a modern state that symbolised his vision.

"The UAE's blessed march continues under the wise leadership of His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and with the support of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and Their Highnesses the Members of the Supreme Council, Rulers of the Emirates.

"The UAE's strategy is based on a clear-cut vision and absolute determination to realise all-out development according to carefully-studied plans," he said.

Financial crisis

"This development will continue to serve as the basis for the exhibition industry and national achievements. What we see and perceive in the UAE today, despite the world financial crisis, expresses clearly the great international appreciation for the UAE exhibition's continuous success.

"This is not strange in the UAE, which is considered today an international centre that attracts investments in the commercial sector."

Lt Gen Al Rumaithy said the exhibition industry is set in readiness with infrastructure that enhances confidence in state establishments and the national cadre, which has sweeping expertise in several fields.

"The UAE Armed Forces work in cooperation with the state establishments responsible for organising these exhibitions and conferences to enable them to achieve the utmost benefits possible.

Benefits

"The Dubai Air Show presents several benefits for the Armed Forces cadre since some of them play an active part in this show through adequate preparation, organisation and implementation.

"Those specialised in particular make heavy use of their extensive administrative organising and commanding expertise and that reflects their discipline and their usual work as a team."

The air show is also a rare opportunity for the commanders and officers to keep in touch with the latest development in aviation technology, he pointed out.

The Dubai Air Show goes hand in hand with a conference of the air force commanders of the Air Force Alliance and the seminars reflect the UAE's sincere interest in cooperation with sisterly and friendly countries and they provide a rare opportunity to exchange views and review the latest development challenges.
