Dubai: International aircraft leasing group Avolon announced on Wednesday it had acquired two A320 aircraft for delivery to Etihad, according to a press release.

The two aircraft are part of a sale and leaseback transaction and has been financed by Abu Dhabi National Leasing, an asset financing and leasing subsidiary of National Bank of Abu Dhabi.

Etihad has reportedly received the first of the two aircraft with the second scheduled for delivery in December.

Etihad Airways also announced it will ramp up its flights to Manchester, United Kingdom this Christmas holiday period offering more seats on larger aircraft.

Etihad’s twice daily flights from Abu Dhabi-to-Manchester will have a 57 per cent increase in capacity with the airline upgrading from a 262 seat Airbus A330-200 to a 412 Boeing 777-300ER.

The larger Boeing 777-300ER will operate on the route during December 2013.
