Dubai: Etihad Airways will resume some flights to Brussels on Sunday after the city’s airport partially reopened this week.

The Abu Dhabi airline has not flown to Brussels Airport since the March 22 terror attacks in the Belgian capital that killed over 30 people and injured more than 300.

Etihad told Gulf News late on Wednesday it will operate four of its eight weekly scheduled services to Brussels Airport from Sunday April 10.

The other four weekly flights will continue to operate “in the short term” to Dusseldorf in Germany with ground transportation to Brussels provided to passengers, Etihad said in a statement.

The airline has been operating its scheduled Brussels services to Dusseldorf since the attacks.

Brussels Airport reopened on Sunday two weeks after two bombings in the departures hall and a third bombing at a city metro station in attacks that were claimed by the terror group Daesh.

Etihad is advising passengers flying out of Brussels Airport to carry a printed copy of their itinerary with them in order to access the departures hall.

“Guest flying on [flight number] EY56 [from Brussels to Abu Dhabi] must allow themselves plenty of time for check in at Brussels due to the increased security checks, manual processes and guest walking distances.”

“They also must possess and show their printed boarding pass or itinerary confirmation at the police check to get into the entry screening area, smartphone confirmation will not accepted.”

Emirates said on Tuesday it will resume all services to Brussels on Friday April 15.

Qatar Airways flights to Brussels are cancelled through to April 10, according to an airline spokesperson. The Doha carrier has not said when it will resume flights.
