Abu Dhabi: Abu Dhabi-based national carrier Etihad Airways will increase fight frequencies on five European routes this year and add seat capacity on other routes.

European cities of Geneva, Milan and Brussels will see two additional flights per week, while Paris will add four to its schedule and Manchester will see three additional flights effective between June and August 2011.

Airline chief executive James Hogan said the increase in flight frequencies would be supported by the delivery of five new wide-body passenger aircraft – three A330-300s and two B777-300ERs – during summer 2011.

Additionally, Etihad will add two flights on its Abu Dhabi to Beijing route, three on its recently launched route of Bangalore taking total service to a daily operation and launched a 412 passenger aircraft on Chicago route.

The enhancements to the schedule mean that by October 2011, 74 per cent of Etihad's flight network of 66 destinations will be served by at least daily flights, the company said in a statement.

"As we take delivery of new aircraft in 2011, our focus is on offering at least a daily service on key business routes – and wherever possible, a double-daily service – to attract a greater share of the corporate travel market," Hogan said.
