Dubai: Etihad Airways continued to clear the backlog of passengers impacted by Thursday’s closure of Abu Dhabi International Airport, the airline stated on Saturday.

More than 6,000 Etihad passengers were affected when Abu Dhabi International Airport’s runways system failed on Thursday, forcing 37 Etihad flights to be diverted and a further 42 cancelled.

On Saturday, Etihad stated that there had been no cancelled flights over the last 24 hours as it continued to clear the backlog. However, it warned a “small number” of delays could occur.
