Emirates said on Wednesday it is exploring a possible expansion of its commercial agreement with West African carrier Arik Air.

The two airlines have signed a memorandum of understanding that will open the door to code share agreement talks.

Emirates and Arik Air currently have a one-way interline agreement that allows Emirates passengers to connect throughout Nigeria and West Africa with Arik Air’s network.

The MoU was signed by Adnan Kazim, Emirates Divisional Senior Vice President, Planning, Aeropolitical and Industry Affairs, and Chris Ndlulue, Arik Air’s Managing Director, at Emirates Group Headquarters in Dubai.
