Dubai: Emirates passengers flying out from Dubai International Airport this weekend should allow for extra time to check in and make their way through the airport, the airline said on Tuesday.

This airport is expected to be exceptionally busy this weekend with more than 62,000 passengers boarding an Emirates flight from Dubai on Friday.

“Consistently high passenger loads are also expected from [Friday] June 25 to [Sunday] June 28,” Emirates said in an emailed statement.

The airline said passengers should arrive at Dubai International Airport at least three hours before their scheduled departure time and also allow extra time to get to their departure gate, warning that late passengers will not be permitted to board.

The airline also warned that “during busy travel periods passengers may experience longer queues due to heightened security measures”.

Passengers can check-in at the airport as early as six hours before their flight and Emirates has urged passengers to check-in online and to use the self-service kiosks at Dubai International Airport to ease congestion.

Emirates said it has introduced “special areas” catering for families of more than 10 at its Terminal 3 check-in.

Last week, Dubai Airports Chief Executive Paul Griffiths said record travel levels were expected at Dubai International Airport this summer.
