Dubai: Emirates airline has started taking bookings for A380 flights to New York, the route on which it operates three daily flights.
"We have started to take bookings for the A380s, the first of which will join the fleet in August this year," an Emirates spokeswoman told Gulf News.
Although the first bookings are for the Dubai-New York route, Emirates could not confirm if flights to New York's John F. Kennedy (JFK) airport would be Emirates' maiden A380 flight.
"I cannot confirm whether flights to JFK would be our first on the A380. However, we can confirm that we will receive our first A380 in August," she said.
Return economy class tickets have been priced at Dh5,260 while business and first class tickets are roughly priced at Dh15,000 and 25,000 respectively - almost the same the airline charges for ordinary flights.
Analysts predict that JFK, London Heathrow and Sydney would be Emirates' natural choices due to the increased passenger demand on those routes.
Emirates has 57 A380s on order - the highest by any airline.
