Dubai: Volcanic ash cloud over Indonesia is affecting Emirates and Qatar Airways flights to and from the Indonesian holiday island Bali.

Emirates flight EK398 to Bali on November 3rd was diverted to Jakarta after volcanic ash cloud closed the island airport Denpasar, an Emirates spokesperson told Gulf News by email on Wednesday.

The flight will now travel onwards to Bali on November 5.

Other flights are also impacted.

Emirates flight EK398 to Bali on November 4 will now depart a day on November 5 at 5pm. The return flight from Bali to Dubai scheduled for November 4 will now depart on November 6 at 1.05pm local time.

The same scheduled flight to Bali on November 5 will now depart Dubai 8pm the same day. The return flight to Dubai scheduled for November 5 will now depart on November 6 at 10.45am local.

Emirates is advising passengers to check Emriates.com for updates and said passengers in transiting in Dubai to Bali can elect to return to their point of departure.

On its website Qatar Airways is warning flights to Bali “may be subject to diversions, delay or cancellations due to volcanic ash activity.”
