Dubai: Forget watching movies during a flight. The next time you fly Emirates you may leave your seat, and go take a dip at their on-board swimming pool. Or you may even kick back at their games room.

Or not.

The Dubai-based carrier on Saturday posted images on social media of new facilities on board its latest aircraft, the triple-decker APR001. In posts on Twitter and Facebook, Emirates said it is unveiling plans for the “world’s largest commercial aircraft.”

It said the APR001 includes a swimming pool, a games room, gym, and park.

But before you get excited about that, check a calendar. The announcement was posted on April 1, with the aircraft carrying the same dateline.

The April Fools prank by Emirates received plenty of comments of social media, with users either laughing at the joke, or, in the case of those living in a different time zone, wondering why the carrier would post the prank on March 31.

The social media posts by Emirates even included designs of the APR001 aircraft with regular seats on the top floor and half the middle floor, and a pool and a park on the bottom floor.

The airline has been known to post tongue in cheek posts on social media in response to trends. In late March after the US announced it will introduce a ban on carrying certain electronic devices on board for flights departing from airports that include Dubai International, Emirates responded with a social media campaign with the slogans, “Who needs tablets and laptops anyway?” and “Let us entertain you.”
