Dubai: Emirates is expanding its network in the US with the launch of daily flights to the city Orlando in Florida, from September 1, the airline announced on Wednesday.

The city, home to Disneyworld, is “famous for its world-class theme parks, family entertainment and year-round sunshine, which bring in over 59 million visitors each year,” the airline said.

The daily flight will be operated by a 226-seat three-class Boeing 777-200LR (long range). There will be eight seats in first class, 42 in business and 216 seats in economy, the airline said.

Flight EK219 will depart Dubai International at 3.50am local time and arrives in Orlando at 11.40am local time. The return flight, EK220, departs Orlando International 2.20pm local time and arrives in Dubai at 12.30pm the following day, local time.

“Orlando is one of the world’s premier leisure and conference destinations, a dynamic business centre and a destination which Emirates has long wished to serve,” said Tim Clark, Emirates president.

Emirates passengers will also be able to connect onto codeshare flights with JetBlue from Orlando to 24 destinations, the airline said.
