Dubai: Emirates Group, the parent company of Emirates airline and dnata, will look to recruit more than 11,000 new staff members this year as part of its ongoing expansion plans.

Half of the new recruits will be to fill cabin crew positions for Emirates airline, which will receive more than 20 new aircraft this year, the Group said in a statement on Tuesday. It added that the airline will also “actively” recruit to fill positions related to flight operations, engineering, airport services and corporate functions.

dnata, the airport ground handling and travel services company, is looking to recruit airport operations, engineering and commercial business development positions.

Emirates Group currently employs 75,000 staff around the world.

“More than 12,000 of our employees have been with the Group for over 10 years, and almost 3,000 have worked with us for over 20 years,” Abdul Aziz Al Ali, Executive Vice-President Human Resources, Emirates Airline and Group, said in a statement.

Emirates Group said it received nearly 483,944 online applications for over 2,000 jobs, from over 227 countries in 2014. The Group “also receives an average of 1,500 career-related enquiries each month on its social media channels.”
