Dubai: Emirates airline said that some of its flights to and from New York’s JFK Airport have been disrupted as a result of the continuing bad weather and snowstorm.

In a statement, Emirates said that flights on January 7 and 8 have been impacted, and urged passengers with tickets to or from JFK to contact their travel agency or local Emirates office.

Snow blanketed New York and other cities on the US east coast after a winter storm that is being called a bomb cyclone hit the region a few days ago, causing delays of several hours at airports.

Dubai-based Emirates has multiple flights a day to and from New York, and the delays vary from one flight to another.

Check flight status

“Passengers are also advised to check the status of their flights on emirates.com for the latest information regarding their flights. Emirates apologises for any inconvenience caused, but the safety of our passengers and crew is of the utmost importance and will not be compromised,” an Emirates spokesperson said.

In neighbouring Abu Dhabi, Etihad Airways said its services to New York are “returning to normal” following disruptions caused by the weather.

“However, we are still experiencing some delays as a result of congestion at JFK airport. We continue to monitor the situation and have contingency plans in place should there be any further disruption to our flight schedule,” an Etihad spokesperson told Gulf News.

Etihad urged passengers to visit Etihad.com for more information or contact the Etihad Airways contact centre on +971(0)25990000.
