Emirates Airlines said today that it has slashed fares to some 32 destinations by 50 per cent, for families flying together in Business or First Class.

The promotion, only for passengers from the UAE, applies to spouse and children when one full fare adult ticket is purchased.

The price cut comes right after the peak holiday season, when demand is lower.

Globally, airlines have suffered during the market downturn as a result of falling demand and increasing capacity by regional airlines. Load factors have been affected the most for Business and First Class, as companies and passengers downgrade to cut back on costs.

The airline has limited the availability of the offer to sales centres and travel agencies. The offer is valid for flights from Dubai on bookings made between 20th December to 15th January, for outbound travel between 14th January to 31st January 2010.

The ‘Family Fares’ promotion is a first for the airline and applied to destinations within Europe, the US, Australia, the Far East, South Africa and the Middle East.

Khalid bel Jaflah, Emirates’ vice-president of Commercial Operations of UAE said, “Never before has Emirates launched such an innovative and competitive promotion. We expect that this deal will be extremely well received within the local market.”

Destinations included in the offer are; Amman, Damascus, Tehran, London, Frankfurt, Paris, Munich, Dusseldorf, Hamburg, Zurich, New York, Los Angeles, Istanbul, Venice, Vienna, Maldives, Karachi, Kuala Lumpur, Bahrain, Doha, Muscat, Singapore, Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney, Johannesburg, Cape Town, Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Kozhikode.

Will this encourage you to go on holiday? Do you think the prices are reasonable?
