Dubai: Dubai International pipped London Heathrow to become the world’s busiest airport for international passenger traffic in the first two months of 2014, according to data from Dubai Airports.

Dubai International has overtaken London Heathrow with nearly two million more passengers travelling through the UAE airport with a growth rate of 13.5 per cent.

While Dubai International is on track to maintain top spot, its capacity will be significantly reduced for almost three months when it closes down a runway for scheduled maintenance from May 1 to July 20.
