Dubai: Dubai International recorded a 42.3 per cent increase in Airbus A380 flights last year, the airports manager and operator, Dubai Airports, said in a statement on Monday.

There were 15,098 flights by the world’s largest passenger aircraft to 39 destinations in 2014 compared to 10,608 flights to 26 destinations in the previous years.

Dubai Airports said the figures are based on “published airlines industry flight schedule data.”

The surge in A380 flights is due to the growth of home airline Emirates, the world’s largest A380 operator.
