Dubai: Dubai Airports, the new entity that manages Dubai International Airport (DIA) and will operate the upcoming Al Maktoum Airport in Jebel Ali, is hiring 400 people to fill vacancies created by growth in operations.

The company said in a newspaper advertisement on Friday it was looking for people in the fields of aviation, information technology and engineering services. It will hold walk-in interviews for applicants over three days starting December 10.

Both UAE nationals and expatriates are eligible to apply, a company official said.

Thani Bin Jarsh, vice-president of human resource at Dubai Airports, said yesterday the recruitment drive was needed because of the growth in business.

DIA is undergoing an expansion at a cost of $4.5 billion. Passenger traffic is expected to reach 33 million this year compared with 28 million last year.

The airport's Concourse 2 and Terminal 3 are scheduled to open next year.

Dubai Airports will conduct interviews for engineering services positions on the first day, followed by IT jobs on Tuesday and for aviation vacancies on Wednesday.

The location is Al Hessen Private School, formerly Zayed University.

The company said applications will be accepted between 8 and 10am "only as per the scheduled date of interview".
