Dubai: Cavotec Middle East, the UAE-based subsidiary of global engineering group Cavotec, has won a Dh15 million contract by Bahwan Engineering Company, the biggest MEP (mechanical, electrical and plumbing) contracting company in Oman, for the design, supply, and installation of 95 pop-up pit systems at the new Muscat International Airport development.
The group's latest contract was signed between Bahwan Engineering Company and Cavotec Middle East in Muscat, whose pop-up solutions have been chosen involving Cowi Larsen as the project consultant and ADPi, the project managers for Oman's Ministry of Transport and Communication.
Cavotec will also supply its Wibe Cable Support System to the development, adding to the firm's portfolio for the Muscat International Airport project.
Juergen Strommer, Managing Director of Cavotec Middle East, said, "We are very honoured to have been chosen for the prestigious Muscat International Airport project due to the superior technology and dependability that our industry-leading airport management solution brings to the table."
Following the inking of this contract, Cavotec's pop-up pit systems can now be found in five different airports within the GCC region: Dubai, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, and Muscat. The state-of-the-art pop-up pit system, composed of units that emerge from the tarmac when required and retract flush with the apron surface after use, is an innovative solution which can serve aircraft requirements on the ground safely and efficiently.
