Renton, Washington: Boeing Co. will try and secure an interior fitting contract with flydubai for the 75 737 MAX aircraft it ordered in 2013, after the airline went elsewhere for the 50 it has taken of the existing version.

Flydubai is currently one of few commercial airlines that do not contract Boeing to fit the interiors of its 737s at the manufacturer’s assembly facility in Renton, Washington.

Mike Delaney, Boeing’s Director of Operations for Final Assembly of the 737, told reporters at the facility on Tuesday that the manufacturer will try to convince the airline to let it fit its interiors for the MAXs.

Delaney said if successful, the interior fitting contract would be a small but sizeable increase in revenue for Boeing from the MAX programme.

A 737 MAX 8 has a list price of $104 million, but airlines generally receive discounts on large orders.

Flydubai will receive its first 737 MAX, a revamped version of its best-selling jet, in 2017. It is also scheduled to receive 11 more current versions of the 737. Delaney did not say whether Boeing would try and secure the contract for the remaining current version 737s to be delivered.
